A belated congratulations to the local fire station in Bay Cloverhill, Station 314, at 12 Grosvenor Street on their 100 year anniversary in April 2026. Built in 1926, the Tudor Revival style fire station has been home to generations of firefighters who have served the community. Captain Jack Cooper and Pumper 314 were featured in the documentary Florian's Knights that followed the now retired firefighter who served the City for 45 years and formed a motorcycle club to deal with first responder post traumatic stress disorder. They respond to a high variety of calls, including the December 1989 fire in the decrepit Rupert Hotel, a Corktown rooming house, in which 10 people died. Firefighters also were called to the shooting in 2012 at the food court of the Eaton Centre. Today, it is home to Pumper Truck 314 with the highest volume of responses in Canada, responding to almost 6,000 calls annually. Kids of all ages enjoy the dalmatian styled fire hydrant. We are all very appreciative of the work that these first responders do every day to keep residents safe.
