On June 9, 2021, City Council approved streetscape improvements for Breadalbane Street, between the eastern and western limits of Dr. Lilian McGregor Park. The project will improve the public realm by visually connecting the two public parks (Dr. Lilian McGregor Park and Opera Place Park) on the street and by potentially calming traffic and reducing vehicular speeds.
Construction will be undertaken by Lanterra and funded by $750,000 in Section 37 development funds from the Britt Condos, located on the former Sutton Place premises at 951-971 Bay Street and 36 Wellesley Street. Although the City staff are finalizing the scope of work, there will be increased infiltration of rain and snow melt through the road surface by using permeable pavers. Work will start this year and be complete in 2022. The result will be an environment that will allow pedestrians to safely enjoy the invaluable green spaces in our neighbourhood. Councillor Wong-Tam and the Bay Cloverhill Community Association look forward to animating the parks with special events, to benefit the entire neighbourhood.
