Join the Bay Cloverhill Community at the Mayor’s Clean Up Day on Saturday April 26th. Help give the neighbourhood a spring cleanup! Meet at the main entrance of Polo I at 1055 Bay at 10 am. Litter bags and equipment will be provided. After cleaning up Bay Cloverhill, enjoy a lunch at Firkin on Bay, just bring money for drinks. We welcome new volunteers to participate. - Seniors for Climate Action Now is organizing a Seniors for Safe Cycling bike ride on Saturday April 26th at 11 am. Participants will meet at Yonge Street and Bloor Street, ride to Queen's Park and then Allan Gardens. If you are interested in volunteering contact Lyn Adamson [email protected].

The 14th annual Bumrun Toronto is a 5k walk/run event at 8 am on Sunday April 27th to raise awareness of colon cancer screening/prevention. Little Bums is a 500 m event for kids up to and including 12 years that starts at 7:40 am. Funds raised go to colon cancer research, patient family support and awareness. Route to be confirmed. Jane's Walk is a neighbourhood walking tour program the first weekend of May each year to celebrate the birthday of urban activist Jane Jacobs. The Ontario Police Memorial Foundation will host the 26th annual Ceremony of Remembrance at the Ontario Police Memorial at Queen’s Park on Sunday May 4th at 11 am. The event will honour police officers who have died in the line of duty, and support their families. Street closures from 7 am to 3 pm for Queen’s Park Crescent, Hoskin Avenue, Grosvenor Street, St. Joseph Street and Charles Street adjacent to Queen’s Park. www.ceremonyofremembrance.ca

The Toronto Marathon takes place on Sunday May 4th. The event consists of a marathon, 1/2 marathon walk/run, 10 k run, 5 k walk/run and relay. There are no road closures in the Bay Cloverhill neighbourhood, but expect road closures along the event route from the start area at Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue from 7:30 am to the finish line at the Queen Elizabeth Building on the Exhibition Grounds around 1:30 pm. www.torontomarathon.com

March for Life is a pro-life rally that will be at Queen’s Park on Saturday May 10th starting at 10 am. There will be a rally and speeches from 10:30 am to noon, followed by a march through downtown Toronto. The event returns to Queen's Park at 1:20 pm for closing remarks. www.torontomarchforlife.ca

The 25th version of the Sporting Life 10k happens on Sunday May 11th. Road closures starting at 4 am at Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue ending at Fort York Boulevard Lake Shore Boulevard West at 11:30 am. The route goes south along Yonge Street, west along Wellington Street West, south on Bay Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West at New Brunswick Way. The goal is to raise funds for Campfire Circle, dedicated to kids and families with childhood cancer. www.sportinglife10k.ca

The Toronto Centre Community Environment Day at Allen Gardens, 160 Gerrard Street East, is scheduled for Saturday May 17th from 10 am to 2 pm. Pick up free loose compost, drop off items for recycling, reuse or disposal and access resources from Animal Services, Metrolinx, Toronto Community Housing etc. You can purchase kitchen organic bins for $7.

Doors Open will happen on Saturday May 24th and Sunday May 25th from 10 am to 5 pm. Visitors get complimentary access to interesting and unique private or public buildings in Toronto. The Law Enforcement Torch Run kicks off its 38th anniversary on Thursday May 29th from 1 pm to 3 pm at the front courtyard of Toronto Police Service Headquarters at 40 College Street. This event supports Special Olympics Ontario athletes. Runners and walkers will travel west on College Street, north on Queen’s Park Crescent, around the Ontario Legislative Assembly and return to TPS Headquarters. https://www1.torchrunontario.com/event/toronto-community-run/

Details are being finalized for the Toronto Bike to Work Day Group Commute on Thursday June 4th. Typically the ride starts at various points around the City and ends at Nathan Phillips Square. Last year, the Central Meetup was at the southwest corner of Bay Street and Charles Street at 7:30 am. The group ride was 2.3 km down Bay Street.

The 38th annual Toronto Jazz Festival features indoor and outdoor concerts from Friday June 20th to Sunday June 29th at multiple locations in the Yorkville and Bay Cloverhill neighbourhoods. The OLG Lounge and TD Main Stage in the Burwash Quad at Victoria College, 91 Charles Street West will feature live performances with food and licensed beverages available. www.torontojazz.com

St. Basil's Church, 50 St. Joseph Street is hosting a Society of St. Vincent de Paul Bundle Up Weekend on Saturday June 7th and Sunday June 8th to collect donations of gently used clothing, linens, towels, draperies and shoes for their Neighbours in Need supportive housing and outreach program or sold at their community stores. There will be a donation truck parked outside the church and volunteers will be collecting donations 15 minutes before and after each mass: Saturday: 5 pm Sunday: 9 am, 10:30 am, 12 noon and 4:30 pm.

The Run for Women happens on Saturday June 7th. Road closures are in place from 5 am to 11:30 am. 1,500 walkers and runners participate in a 1k Little Steps, 5k walk/run or 10k run in support of women’s mental health programs at Women’s College Hospital. On Wednesday June 11th from 11 am to 2 pm, join the 52 Division Community Police Liaison Committee at their annual Community Barbeque at 255 Dundas Street West.

The 11th annual 5k Epilepsy Toronto Purple Walk is being held on Saturday June 14th at 11 am. About 700 participants will help spread epilepsy awareness while raising funds. The 15th annual Yorkville Exotic Car Show returns on Father’s Day, Sunday June 15th from noon to 5 pm. The event featuring classic and exotic cars aims to raise $200,000 for Melanoma Canada. Bloor Street West will be closed from Avenue Road to Yonge Street. www.yorkvilleexotics.com

The Princess Margaret Journey to Conquer Cancer happens on Sunday June 15th where participants walk or run 1, 3 or km routes that pass by Princess Margaret Cancer Centre via Queen’s Park Crescent. www.journey2conquer.ca

Councillor Dianne Saxes hosts the City’s University Rosedale Community Environment Day is Sunday June 29th from 10 am to 2 pm at Central Technical School at 725 Bathurst Street. Help reduce waste going to landfill and drop off household items for donation, electronics for reuse or recycling and household hazardous waste for proper disposal. You can pick up free bagged or loose compost or purchase kitchen organic bins for $7.

Pride events celebrating the LGBTQ+ community are one of the city’s biggest events from Friday June 27th to Sunday June 29th. This year's theme is All In. Details to be confirmed. Likely scheduling/routes are:

The Pride and Remembrance Run from 8:45 am to 11 am on Saturday June 28th with road closures from 6:30 am to noon. The 3k walk/run starts at 9:30 am and the 5k run starts at 9 am. Routes starts at Church Street and Wellesley Street, goes along Wellesley, then around Queen's Park Crescent East and Queen's Park Crescent West, returning back to the start location. The kid’s 500m race starts at 8:45 am with the route along Wellesley. The goal is to raise $325,000 for charities Sherbourne Health, Sunshine Centres for Seniors, Women’s College Hospital Foundation and Pride and Remembrance Foundation. The 26th annual Jesus in the City musical street pageant takes place on Saturday September 6th starting at 12 noon with a rally at Queen’s Park. The parade of participants and floats starts at 1:30. The Yorkville Run is scheduled for Sunday September 7th from 9 am to 11 am. This is the 16th year the 5k event is being held. Expect about 1,500 runners to participate, aiming to raise $1m for over 30 Toronto charities. The event starts and finishes in the Jesse Ketchum School Courtyard at 61 Davenport Road. The Word on the Street Festival commemorating Canadian writing and literacy is at Queen’s Park on Saturday September 27th from 11 am to 6 pm and Sunday September 28th from 10 am to 5 pm.
